The benefits of drinking water

There are so many benefits of drinking water, but these are often overlooked by most. We’ve rounded them up to make things simple.

After reading these we can guarantee that you’ll want to start drinking your eight glasses a day! So here goes…

Rehydrate your brain

Feeling a little sluggish and dehydrated? Water is great for rehydrating you and for improving your alertness and concentration – and in turn, your productivity!

Flush out the toxins

Regular water drinking is the best way to flush out waste and your skin will be hydrated and look clearer too.

Boost your immune system

Steer clear of those pesky winter colds by drinking more water. A healthy and strong immune system is one of the prime benefits of drinking plenty of water.

Research also shows that water helps to flush out toxins from the bladder, reducing the risk of the likes of bladder cancer.

Regulates your temperature

Water is key for replenishing your body’s cooling down system (sweat).

Water is a key ingredient of sweat, which is why your body needs plenty of water to regulate your body’s temperature through perspiration.

Prevents bad breath

Bad breath is often a clear sign of dehydration. Drinking a sufficient amount of water washes away leftover food particles and oral bacteria that lead to bad breath.

Take the edge off your hangover

Take a proactive approach when you’re next out drinking and save yourself from the consequences of alcohol the next day.

Aim to drink a glass of water with each alcoholic drink to help avoid that next day hangover.

Improve your mood

Its proven that your body works better when you’re properly hydrated. When everything inside you is running better, you’re more likely to feel better about yourself. In turn, this almost definitely puts you in a better mood!

Start your day by drinking a glass of water before you eat or drink anything else.  Keep a bottle with you throughout the day to ensure you remember to drink.  You may well have a couple of extra visits to the loo than you’re used to, but your body will function better, your mood will be lifted and overall, you’ll be a healthier you.
